Nestled along a picturesque stretch of the Lancashire coastline lies the friendly seaside town of Lytham. Located in the heart of the town centre is The Sidings, an Adlington Retirement Living community.
Its location is perfect to explore the character and atmosphere of the bustling town, the renowned golf courses or to take in the fresh sea air. Homeowners can dip into the nearby shops and amenities, discover the beautiful coast and enjoy life at their own pace.
For wildlife enthusiasts, keen golfers, history buffs or those who enjoy natural beauty and scenic strolls along sandy beaches, Lytham is the perfect seaside town with so much to offer. It has a wide range of independent retailers and boutiques along with a host of stylish restaurants to choose from.
Local events and attractions take place throughout the year, from the Lytham festival, The Big Picnic and Boat Race Days at Fairhaven Lake to the Blackpool illuminations, just a short drive away.
Beyond its fabulous location, The Sidings offers a whole new approach to retirement living.
Adlington Retirement Living believes in rightsizing, not downsizing.
Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director for Adlington Retirement Living, said: “When it comes to moving, we all want to feel excited about the possibilities of our new home. We certainly don’t want to feel that we’re settling for less. Instead, we want to know that the outcome will be uplifting, liberating and life-enhancing.”
Moving to an Adlington Retirement Living community offers more of all the important things in life:
- More time for the things you love
- More space to enjoy as an extension of your own home
- More support, with a team of staff, chef, maintenance person, cleaning team and gardeners, who all aim to make your life easier and more enjoyable
Bess, an Adlington Retirement Living homeowner, said: “I think a lot of people don’t understand what retirement living communities are like. The first thing my son said when he came was that it’s just like a five-star hotel, and my daughter said the same. It’s lovely! The staff are all really polite, helpful and genuine. I wish that I’d visited a retirement community five years earlier. I think if I’d have known how good life can be, I’d have moved years ago.”
The range of one, two and three-bedroom spacious apartments at The Sidings are designed to offer flexibility to suit everyone. The design team at Adlington focus on the little things that make a big difference – from how a home feels, such as natural light, a user-friendly layout, a private patio or balcony to smart, space-saving storage.
When moving from a family home to an Adlington Retirement Living community, new homeowners gain access to the outstanding on-site facilities and gardens, which are an extension of their own home.
Trevor, who moved to The Sidings in April last year said: “I am so, so pleased I came. I settled in right away. I amazed myself at how quickly I felt at home, and I got on speaking terms with quite a few people in the first few days. There’s a good sense of community and I’ve made some good friends since I’ve moved here.
“One of the homeowners has just started some of us playing chess again. I had about three games last week in the homeowner’s lounge or the coffee lounge and that was very good. I enjoyed that. We have speciality gala nights every six weeks or so. I’ve been to a Greek night and a Hollywood themed ‘Oscars’ night. We’re having a Turkish night on Friday. We’ve started a Boules club, you know pétanque, on a Sunday morning.
“I tend to eat in the restaurant two or three times a week. On Sundays I usually have either my sister or friends come for lunch with me in our restaurant.
“I’ve had the same person cut my hair for years and years and she does it in the hair salon here for me now. We use the activities room too. One of the homeowners leads an exercise class every week which I join sometimes. It’s a bit of fun and we have a coffee or tea afterwards and chat.”
It’s amazing how much more time and energy homeowners have when they don’t have to worry about the never-ending ‘to-do list’ around the house.
Ann, who moved to The Sidings with her husband, Harry, said: “You don’t have worries here. It’s like being on holiday all the time. It’s wonderful. It takes all that anxiety away from you. We’ve got rid of two houses and all the worry of painting and weeding the garden and all the rest of the things. It’s all done here. We’re having such a wonderful time. We’re busy, but busy doing things that we like.”
