I’VE died and gone to petrol head heaven. In an unassuming Yorkshire industrial unit are dozens of historic racing cars worth many millions of pounds.

I was amongst a group of fellow hacks from the Northern Group of Motoring Writers invited by Le Mans winning race team United Autosports to their HQ near Wakefield.

As well as their incredible racing cars the building also houses owner Zak Brown’s amazing car collection which includes F1 cars driven by legends like Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna’s winning JPS lotus (alone worth around £5 million).

There are also saloon car racers based on Capris, Audis and Ferraris as well as (slightly) more mundane historic motors made for the road and all in immaculate condition.

We got to see the 55 strong staff preparing cars for upcoming races in conditions more like a computer factory than a garage as well as their bulging trophy cabinet.

Sadly, the visit is strictly by invitation only but take a longing look at these pictures of some magnificent motors which sadly make my garage look very underwhelming.
